Botanical Description

Bambusa nepalensis is an evergreen, clump-forming bamboo with short rhizomes and erect, woody stems around 10 - 20 metres tall. The stems are thin walled, around 50 - 100mm in diameter and with internodes 20 - 40cm long. The plant is widely cultivated in Nepal, and occasionally in India, Bhutan and China, where the new shoots are used as food and the mature stems are used for construction, basket making, weaving etc[ 220 Title Bamboos of Nepal Publication Author Stapleton.
