Botanical Description

Hibiscus moscheutos is a perennial plant producing a few to many stems that can become woody, especially near the base; it can grow up to 2.50 metres tall. The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a food and medicine. It is grown as an ornamental in gardens. Hibiscus moscheutos is widespread and while it is possibly declining in parts of its range, it is not thought that any global population decline is likely to meet (or be close to meeting) the threshold for Vulnerable . The plant is classified as 'Least Concern' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species(2015)[ 338 Title IUCN Red List of Threatened Species Publication Author Website http://www.iucnredlist.org/ Publisher Year 0 ISBN Description A list of plants under threat and facing possible extinction, usually with brief details of the threats and information on habitat. ].
