Botanical Description

The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a medicine. Crassocephalum splendens has a very restricted range. It is found in three protected areas, but is not known from ex situ collections. Its range is also severely fragmented. Forest encroachment for agriculture (potato farms) poses an additional threat to this species, causing a continuing decline in the extent and quality of available habitat.
