An on-line version is also available. ]. This species is one of several yellow-petalled Camellia species that are harvested from the wild for their petals, which are traded for medicinal use. Camellia flavida is found in less than five locations. It is threatened by desertification of the Karst ecosystem in Guangxi and by deforestation in Duxin county for the plantation of sugar cane. These threats are causing a continuing decline in extent of occurrence and area/quality of habitat. In addition, the plant is collected from the wild for the horticulture trade and its yellow flowers are collected for medicinal use.
