Botanical Description

Cathariostachys madagascariensis is an evergreen bamboo with elongated, long-necked rhizomes. A spreading plant, it does not form a clump but has scattered, single canes that can be up to 15 metres tall and 50 - 80cm (occasionally to 120cm) in diameter.
